Making the Implicit Explicit

Unlike their instructors, who are experienced academics, well practiced in carrying out scholarly research, reading, and note-taking, and are comfortable with the sequencing and coordination of the writing process, students need to build their awareness of and facility with those skills through focused instruction on and discussion of assignment and disciplinary requirements.
